The Basket Journey - The story of our beach bags and baskets
Le Voyage en Panier est une entreprise à taille humaine située en Provence à quelques kilomètres d’Avignon, la Cité des Papes. L’histoire du Voyage en Panier débute en 1981. Son fondateur, lors de ses différents voyages, est fasciné par les réalisations des artisans qui manient avec dextérité et savoir-faire le tressage selon les coutumes de leurs pays. Il décide de promouvoir leur travail en créant une collection de paniers composés de matières végétales et de diverses substances naturelles.
En 2010, Dominique Friedmann reprend la société Le Voyage en Panier. Il se donne pour challenge d'allier créativité et artisanat d'exception qui privilégie une stratégie de valeur. Aujourd’hui, le défi est relevé : les paniers sont toujours confectionnés artisanalement à base de paille de riz, raphia, palmier nain, jonc de mer, tout en répondant parfaitement aux tendances du prêt-à-porter et aux envies des femmes modernes. Dans sa démarche de promouvoir les artisans du monde, Le Voyage en Panier a remis au goût du jour avec sa collection l'Atelier du Crochet, un autre savoir-faire ancestral : l’art du crochet. Sacs, pochettes, chapeaux viennent compléter les collections. Tous les modèles proposés par L'Atelier du crochet sont issus d’une fabrication artisanale 100% fait main ce qui leur confère un caractère unique.

Today, the brand is entering the fashion accessory market. The team of French designers is working on creating more daring models, revisiting basket lines, and challenging our habits. Gone are the baskets our grandmothers had; in comes the model we accessorize with our outfits and wear all year round.

For over 40 years, our brand Le Voyage en Panier has worked to promote, recognize, and respect the expertise of the artisans with whom we work with confidence. Human relations are at the heart of our concerns; we ensure the working conditions of each individual and, with fair remuneration, the quality of life of all those who create our creations.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
The majority of materials used by Le Voyage en Panier are 100% natural and do not undergo any chemical transformation. The materials come from various continents (North Africa, West Africa, Madagascar, India and China) and from natural plants (rice straw, raffia, reed, leather, cotton, etc.). The fruit of traditional know-how, the basket weaving is carried out by artisans in their workshops, according to the customs of their countries.
